Our Certificate II Salon Assistant course has been specifically designed to be the ultimate flexible program:

Learn to interact with clients and develop practical skills in our fully operational training salon open to the public. We will teach you the fundamentals of the course under the guidance of our industry experts.

The course consists ofย  12 subject areas, providing students with the skills and knowledge to operate as a salon assistant in a commercial salon. We ensure you develop skills to work as a confident assistant in a salon.

You will developed practical skills completing a minimum of 165 practical hoursย  at the AACMย  professional training salon.ย 

AACM is affiliated with a variety of professional brands to ensure broad exposure to product ranges. Professional equipment will be provided in the salon to ensure you can perform all services and treatments embedded in this course.

The Certificate II in Salon Assistant provides you a pathway to work as a hairdresser in any industry environment, usually a salon

This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by junior salon staff who provide assistance with client services. These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.

The combined skills and knowledge do not provide for a job outcome as a hairdresser and this qualification is intended to prepare individuals for further training.

Start any time with our flexible delivery option. You will spend 7.5 hours per week in AACM’s training salon and approx. 2.5 hours per week studying at your own pace the theory elements of the course. You will have full access to our online learning platform to ensure you can study when and where it suits you.

You must complete a minimum of 165 salon hours to meet the practical component of this course.

The Certificate 2 in Salon Assistance is structured to suit school based learners, offering a flexible and supportive learning environment. Participating in VET can provide credit points to the attainment of a Queensland Certificate of Education, and/or attainment of a nationally recognised VET qualification. It can also support young peopleโ€™s transitions to employment, vocational and higher education pathways. Please contact us for more information on studying this Certificate course while at school.

The subjects have been chosen to reflect industry standards and graduates are more employable with these valuable skills. This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by junior salon staff who provide assistance with client services. To achieve the Certificate II Salon Assistant, a total of 12 units must be completed. These units have been selected in consultation with industry and in accordance with the Training Package rules of this qualification. Your Payment Options

The interest free payment option for you paying your course off while you are studying. After deducting any applicable enrolment deposit from the total course fees, you can opt to pay in weekly, fortnightly or monthly instalments. Our standard payment plans are designed to pay off your course fees over the duration of your course so you can graduate debt free.

The Certificate II in Salon Assistant is for students aiming to enter the hairdressing services industry and is funded by the Queensland Governments under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program available for eligible applicants.

You may receive a subsidy towards your certificate II qualification if you:

  • Are assessed as a disadvantaged learner that faces barriers to training participation and requires additional support prior to enrolment in a certificate III vocational qualification
  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Living in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don’t currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification.

 

Non-concessional fees:

If you are eligible, you will pay the following student co-contribution fee towards your course fees:

The student co-contribution of $1 600 can be paid in 30 weekly installments of $53.33 each.
