We have contextualised this skillset to specifically suit the makeup, cosmetic, beauty and hairdressing retail industry.

In this course you’ll learn how to follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control. Discover how to implement standard and transmission-based precautions, and respond to infection risks in your business or your workplace.

This is what you will learn

The HLTSS00065 Infection Control Skill Set (Retail) comprises of the nationally recognised unit of competency HLTINFCOV001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.

It gives you the skills to effectively complete hand hygiene and care, use personal protective equipment, handle waste, enforce clean and contaminated zones, surface cleaning and limiting contamination. The set of skills taught will include how to follow organisational infection prevention and control policies and procedures, including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to infection risks in the retail industry.

  • Hand hygiene and care of hands
  • Effective surface cleaning
  • Use of personal protective equipment
  • Enforcing clean and contaminated zones
  • Handling of waste
  • Disposal of contaminated waste
  • Hazard identification, control and reporting
  • Appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
  • Minimising infection within a retail work environment
  • Knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission

Your Payment Options

This course if fee free for eligible Queensland workers. In Queensland, the Infection Control Skill Sets will be offered at no cost to existing Queensland employees in target industries as they return to work, with funding provided under the Queensland Government’s $500 million Worker Assistance Package. These skill sets will be offered until 30 June 2021 to support Queensland’s economic recovery and protect workers and others within the workplace from the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

  • a Queensland resident;
  • aged 15 years or over and no longer at school;
  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency; and
  • a current customer facing worker or supervisor in the retail industry (proof of existing worker eligibility can be a payslip, letter from your employer, your employment contract, etc.); or
  • a current business owner (proof can be your ABN, business registration, proof being a sole trader, client lists, etc …).

Students who are not eligible under the Queensland funding arrangements are paying a one-off upfront fee of $199 to cover the costs of the tuition fees, access to all learning materials, trainer support and their statement of attainment certificate.
