The Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is the entry level qualification to the makeup industry. You will learn a range of skills under the guidance of our industry experts to start a career within the dynamic cosmetic retail environment.  

The course has been designed for those wanting to develop skills and knowledge to sell, demonstrate and apply cosmetics products to an industry standard. It consists of 15 core subject areas providing you with the skills and knowledge to operate within a cosmetic retail environment.

The course allows you to study at your own pace with self-directed online learning, using our learning platform under the guidance of an expert trainer. To ensure practical skills are developed, you will complete a minimum of 75 practical hours at our professional training salon.

Start any time with our blended online delivery option. Theory elements of each unit will be completed online under the guidance of our expert trainers. Plan for up to 7 hours of self-paced online studies per week. The AACM Retail Training Salon will open on set days each week for practical skills development and practical assessments. You will be provided with a training calendar of dates to choose when you attend. You must complete a minimum of 75 training salon hours to meet the practical component of this course. The retail training salon will also be open for block training sessions for those required to travel or have employment opportunities and commitments.

To achieve the Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics, a total of 15 units must be completed. These units have been selected in consultation with industry and in accordance with the Training Package rules of this qualification. The Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is priced at $50 on a weekly basis including access to our learning portal, learning materials, access to our training salon and all consumables needed during your practical hours at our training salon. To secure your enrolment and get access to our learning portal, a initial deposit of $200 is required on enrolment.

We refer to this as our subscription model, where you pay as you go while studying. The course fees can be paid by direct debit or credit card.

The Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is for students aiming to enter the beauty services industry and is funded by the Queensland Governments under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program available for eligible applicants.

You may receive a subsidy towards your certificate II qualification if you:

  • Are assessed as a disadvantaged learner that faces barriers to training participation and requires additional support prior to enrolment in a certificate III vocational qualification
  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Living in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don’t currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification.

If you are eligible, you will pay the following student co-contribution fee towards your course fees:

After paying the $200 deposit, the remaining student co-contribution of $1 560 can be paid in 52 weekly installments of $30 each.
